Project Background Overview

Systems Integration and Deployment, Audit and Governance, and Process Engineering and Development projects are summarized below and share these characteristics:

  • Date Driven – All except the process improvement and development projects were date driven
  • High Pressure – Over 80% of engagements were in a state of crisis
  • High Visibility – All projects were sponsored and tracked by senior management
  • Turnaround – All had priorities misaligned with business needs and required a reset/refocus of the project team

Systems Integration and Deployments

Identity Management Implementation - This project had unusable technical requirements and significant cost and time overruns. Evaluated project history, business requirements and deliverables to produce a gap analysis. Produced usable documents, and recommended a best practices project approach focused on increased customer satisfaction and a simpler deployment plan to reach business objectives and achieve Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Integrated Accounting  Implementation - This very seasonal business had non-functioning critical systems 60 days prior to their busy season (80% of annual revenue), due to incomplete requirements, over-reliance on outsourcing and vendor hype. Worked with the COO, line managers and the vendor to institute controls and stability enabling business objectives and schedules to be met. Acted as CIO for a year and created a lasting foundation for profitable operations.

Security Infrastructure - Business, technical and statutory requirements mandated a comprehensive replacement of perimeter systems, but misaligned business and technical teams resulted in ongoing delays and quality issues. Worked with senior management to establish correct priorities. Deployed a state-of-the-art Secure Perimeter Architecture in three data centers, with intrusion-detection, strong authentication, local and geographic load balancing in support of customer-facing applications (over 1 million daily log-ins, $4 trillion annual transactions).

Systems Integration for a Merger - A Fortune 500 merger required a six-week delivery of a distributed database application across dissimilar systems architectures, multiple domestic locations and coordination of unfamiliar operating teams. Designed, built and managed a start-of-the-art private WAN to meet all project and business objectives, enabling the fastest (six months) large bank merger in banking history.

Network Engineering Pioneer - Delivered network connectivity to several hundred sites in the U.S., Canada, Central and South America, and Asia for a large, mainframe-centric organization.

Process Engineering and Development

Production ControlEnabled a new-media company to increase product quality and achieve growth targets.

Systems Management - Continuous measurement of the web site user experience identified problems early and provided benchmarks for growth planning.

Automated Network Engineering - Developed a prototype that showed how to automate 80% of engineering to bring new customers online 600% faster.

Process Engineering – Fulfillment - Created a highly reliable, automated, on-demand fulfillment system that delivered loan documents to branch offices within an hour of application completion.

Audits and Governance
